Ella is 8 weeks old today!  We went to the doctor this morning and she now weighs 12.3 lbs and is 23.25 inches long.  She is in the 90th percentile for height and 80th for weight.  She is a growing girl!  She has already started outgrowing her 0-3 month clothing because she is so tall.  Everything is still going very well and the doctor said she looks great.  She had her first set of vaccines today and I finally heard her "pain cry" and saw her first real tear fall down her cheek.  It was heartbreaking!  But lucky for me she forgave me right away because she already had smiles for me when we got home.

She is smiling and talking all the time now and is really trying to figure out how to get her thumb in her mouth.  She constantly explores her hands and tries to figure out how they work.  We work on tummy time a little every day and she is very strong and can hold her head up and push off the ground a little for a few seconds at a time.  She also likes trying to stand up.  I'm amazed at how strong her legs are.  Now I know why it hurt so much when she was kicking during pregnancy!

She is a sweet little angel and Josh and I couldn't be more happy or proud of our little girl!

February 15, 2012

Ella has had a very exciting 2 weeks.  She is really growing and learning so much.  She smiles all the time now and "talks" to us, herself, and her toys!  She is so much fun to be around.  Even when I wake up for a 4am feeding, I can't help but stay awake longer just to see more smiles when I'm changing her.  Yesterday I think she was even trying to laugh.  She got so excited and with her smiles she had a high pitch squeal come out.  Then she just kept trying to do it again!

She is now 6 weeks old and I can't believe it.  She will be making her first plane trip in two weeks to New Jersey for my dad's jersey retirement ceremony.  We tried on her dress the other day and she couldn't stop smiling.  I think she really likes being a "pretty girl".  Hopefully that means she will be full of smiles on tv!

February 1, 2012

Well Ella is growing fast!  She just grew out of her newborn clothes and first pair of shoes.  So naturally we did what any good parents of a stylish baby would do, bought her some new clothes and two pairs of sunglasses!

Grandpa came to visit this weekend and we took Ella on her first road trip to San Antonio to see her first hockey game.  She slept almost the entire game, but when a song that said "put your hands up in the air" came on, Ella was waving her arms around.  It was quite hysterical!  She also went to see the Alamo, but I have a feeling she may not remember that :)
